What does the 11th house represent in Vedic astrology?
The 11th house, Labha Bhava, represents gains, income, elder siblings, friendships, networks and the fulfilment of desires. It is an upachaya house that improves with time, and it is the house of what comes in — as distinct from the 2nd house, which is what is kept.
Income, and the desire behind it
The 11th is labha — gain of every kind, including gains that have nothing to do with money: friendships, networks, elder siblings, and the satisfaction of wanting something and getting it. As an upachaya house it strengthens through life, and malefics placed here are read favourably.
In any wealth reading the 11th is paired with the 2nd. The 11th shows what flows in; the 2nd shows whether it stays. A Dhana yoga worth the name involves the lords of both, usually with the 5th and 9th, and the timing comes from the dasha.
