What are my Atmakaraka and Darakaraka planets?

In Jaimini astrology, the seven classical planets are ranked by degree within their own sign. The highest-degree planet is your Atmakaraka ('soul significator'); the lowest is your Darakaraka ('spouse significator'). This calculator ranks all seven and names both.

Why degree-based ranking, not sign or house

Jaimini astrology's char (movable) karaka scheme ranks the seven classical planets — Sun through Saturn, nodes excluded — purely by their degree within whatever sign they occupy, regardless of which house or sign that is. The Atmakaraka is read as the chart's central significator of the self and life direction; the Darakaraka, at the opposite end of the ranking, is the significator most consulted for marriage timing and partner nature alongside the 7th house and Venus.

Common questions

Why are Rahu and Ketu excluded from this ranking?
The classical Jaimini char karaka scheme is defined over the seven physical planets only — the two lunar nodes are excluded by convention.
Is the Atmakaraka the same as the ascendant lord?
No — they're different significators. The ascendant (lagna) lord rules your 1st house by sign; the Atmakaraka is whichever of the 7 planets has the highest degree, and can be any planet including one unrelated to your lagna.
How is Darakaraka used for marriage reading?
It's one of several significators — alongside the 7th house, its lord, and Venus — consulted together for marriage timing and partner nature, not read alone.
