What does a free janam kundli show you?

A free janam kundli here gives your lagna (ascendant), your Moon sign with its nakshatra and pada, the Vimshottari mahadasha running right now, whether Sade Sati is currently active, whether the chart carries Mangal dosha, and your ishta devata — calculated on the sidereal Lahiri zodiac from your date, time and place of birth.

What you get, and what it is calculated from

Your birth details go to the same astronomical engine that produces the paid reports — Swiss Ephemeris positions on the sidereal zodiac with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, which is the standard used across Indian astrology and the one Drik Panchang follows. From those positions you get the ascendant and its sign, the Moon's sign, nakshatra and pada, the mahadasha and antardasha running today, your Sade Sati status, a Mangal dosha check, and the ishta devata drawn from the Atmakaraka's Navamsa position. Nothing here is written by a model; every value is computed.

Why the birth time matters more than the date

The ascendant moves through all twelve signs in roughly twenty-four hours, which means it changes sign about every two hours. Two people born on the same date in the same city but four hours apart usually have different lagnas and therefore a different house layout for every planet. The Moon moves more slowly — about one nakshatra every day — so the rashi and nakshatra survive a rough time estimate far better than the lagna does. If you are unsure of your time, the reading still works; it simply leans on the Moon rather than the ascendant, and the page says so.

What a free kundli does not do

This gives you the chart's key placements, not an interpretation of them. It will tell you that Sade Sati is running and which phase you are in; it will not tell you what that means for your particular chart, because that depends on where Saturn sits natally, which houses it rules for your lagna, and which dasha is running alongside it. The same applies to Mangal dosha, which is reported as present or absent along with the cancellations the engine can see — reading it properly needs the whole chart.
