How We Work
In three steps
A Python engine calculates your chart from your birth date, time and place. A language model then writes the reading — using only the numbers the engine produced, never its own. Before anything is sent, a person reads the whole report.
That order matters, and it is the one thing we would ask you to check in any astrology report you buy, from us or anyone else: is the chart being calculated, or is it being written?
Where the numbers come from
Planetary positions come from the Swiss Ephemeris, the same ephemeris used by professional astronomy and astrology software. The ayanamsa is Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) — the Indian government standard, and the one the printed panchang uses. The zodiac is sidereal, houses are whole sign for the rashi chart, with Bhava Chalit computed alongside it. Lunar nodes are the mean node, the convention Drik Panchang follows.
Dashas are Vimshottari, the full 120-year cycle, seeded from the Moon's nakshatra at birth — mahadasha, antardasha, and pratyantardasha within the current mahadasha, each with its exact start and end date.
The divisional charts go to the full Shodashvarga — all sixteen: D1, D2, D3, D4, D7, D9, D10, D12, D16, D20, D24, D27, D30, D40, D45 and D60. Alongside them the engine computes planetary strength (Shadbala), Ashtakavarga, the Jaimini karakas including your Atmakaraka and its Karakamsha, Upapada, dignity and aspects, and screens your chart against sixty-six classical yogas and the dosha cancellation rules that go with them. Which of these a given report reads depends on the report — but all of it is calculated from your chart, not looked up from a table of generic text.
Your birth place is converted to coordinates and to the timezone offset that was actually in force on your birth date, so a birth before a timezone change is not quietly shifted by an hour.
If you do not know your exact birth time
At checkout you can mark your birth time as exact, approximate, or unknown. Anything other than exact sets a low-confidence flag on your ascendant that travels with the whole report.
Nothing is skipped — the full chart is still calculated. What changes is how it is written. The reading leans on your Moon-based chart (chandra kundli), which does not depend on the birth minute, and it says plainly that the time was approximate. Where a classical condition depends on the exact degree of the ascendant, the report adds a clause noting that part depends on the birth time being right, rather than stating it as settled.
This is the honest limit of the method, not a feature we are hiding. If you can find your exact time later, a fresh report will be able to say more than this one can.
What you receive, and what happens to it afterwards
A PDF, in the language you chose at checkout — Hindi or English. It is emailed to you with the file attached, so you keep your own copy whatever happens to this website.
Your order page also gives you a download link, regenerated each time you open it and valid for seven days. After a report has been delivered, we delete its PDF from our own private storage; the copy in your email is the one that lasts. We keep the calculated chart and the report text, which is what lets us re-render your PDF if you ask, but the delivered file itself does not sit on our servers.
Every report prints a verification link, which anyone you show the report to can open to confirm we really generated it, on that date, for that person — without seeing any of your birth details.
What the language model does — and what it never does
The model never computes anything astrological. It is handed a fixed set of already-calculated facts — your planets and their houses, your current dasha with its exact dates, which yogas are present, whether a dosha is formed and whether it is cancelled — and its only job is to write those facts out as readable prose in your language.
Conclusions are not the model's to make. Whether you are Manglik, how severe it is and which cancellations apply; which Kaal Sarp formation is present; which phase of Sade Sati you are in — all of that is decided by the engine, once, and every section of the report reads the same verdict. This is why a report from us does not contradict itself on page eleven.
If a section of the draft states a date, a yoga, a house number or a dasha lord that is not in the calculated data, that section is rejected and written again.
Almost thirty automated checks run first
Before a person ever opens the draft, it is checked by machine: every required section present, no section repeating another, dates and yogas and house numbers matched against the chart, no internal field name leaking into the text, only the one gemstone the engine selected, consistent spelling, consistent numerals, and section depth within the range the prompt actually asked for.
Some failures cause the section to be regenerated. Others are flagged for the human reviewer instead of retried, because an automated checker that cries wolf trains a reviewer to stop reading.
A person reads every report
Every report is opened, read and approved by a person before it is delivered. The reviewer can edit any section's text and re-render the PDF; nothing is sent on the strength of the automated checks alone.
This is also why your report is not delivered the instant you pay. Delivery is set two days after payment. The generation happens immediately — the wait is the review.
What we will not write, and what we do not sell
No report of ours predicts death, a serious illness or diagnosis, an accident, a legal outcome, or a divorce as a certainty. Sensitive areas get careful guidance and timing, not a verdict. There is no medical, legal or investment advice in any report, and no stock, crypto or property tips.
Remedies are the inexpensive, traditional kind: a mantra, a daan, a fast, a change in how you approach a period. At most one gemstone is ever suggested, only in the remedies section, and always with the advice to consult an astrologer in person before buying a stone.
We sell reports and nothing else. No gemstones, no yantras, no pujas, no subscription, no paid consultation call that the report steers you toward. A remedy in your report can never be something you have to buy from us, because there is nothing to buy from us.
Check our maths yourself
Because the settings above are the standard ones, the core of your chart is independently checkable. Take your ascendant, your Moon's nakshatra and your current mahadasha from our report and recompute them on Drik Panchang or any Lahiri-based calculator. They should match. If they do not, write to us — that is a bug in our engine and we want it.
The free calculators on this site run on the same engine as the paid reports, so you can see its output before you spend anything.
Every report also prints a verification link. Anyone you show the report to can open it and confirm the report was really generated by us, on that date, for that person — without seeing any of your birth details.
A worked example you can check
Here is one chart run all the way through, so that "check our maths" is a demonstration rather than an invitation. The input is made up — 1 January 2000, 12:00 noon IST, New Delhi (28.6139°N, 77.2090°E). It is not a customer's chart and not anyone's; it is a round date and a round time, chosen so you can type it in yourself.
What our engine returns for it: the ascendant is Meena (Pisces) at 13.19°, so the lagna lord is Jupiter. The Sun is in Dhanu at 16.28°. The Moon is in Tula at 16.71°, which places it in Swati nakshatra, pada 4, whose lord is Rahu. Because the Vimshottari sequence is seeded from the Moon's nakshatra, that makes Rahu the mahadasha running at birth — its full period for this chart is 10 June 1986 to 9 June 2004 — and the Saturn mahadasha that comes later runs 9 June 2020 to 10 June 2039.
Now take the same input to Drik Panchang, or to any calculator set to the Lahiri ayanamsa, and compare five things: the ascendant sign, the Moon's sign, its nakshatra, its pada, and the dates of a mahadasha. They should agree. Degrees can differ in the second decimal place between ephemeris implementations, and a pada sitting near a boundary can differ if the other tool uses the true node or a different ayanamsa — those are the two things to check first if something looks off. But a different ascendant sign, or a different nakshatra, on the same settings is not a tolerance: it is a bug, and we want to hear about it.
What the price does and does not buy
A single-subject report like Sade Sati sells online for anywhere from about ₹300 to ₹2,250. The ephemeris underneath is the same one in most of them. A higher price does not buy a more accurate chart — Saturn is where Saturn is, and the maths is not a premium feature.
What a price legitimately reflects is depth, length, and how much work goes into each copy. Ours run ₹499 to ₹1,299. What that pays for is a Shodashvarga-deep calculation of your chart, a reading written section by section against it rather than assembled from stock paragraphs, almost thirty automated checks, and a person who reads the whole report before it is sent. The last of those does not get cheaper with volume, and it is the part we are not willing to drop.
So compare methodology, not price. Ask any astrology service which ayanamsa it uses, whether the chart is calculated or written, and whether a person reads the report before it reaches you. Those three answers tell you more than the number on the button.
Where this method stops
The chart is arithmetic and you can check it. The reading is a judgement, and judgements are not checkable the same way. We publish no accuracy figure for our interpretations because we have none that would mean anything, and any astrology service that quotes you one has invented it.
The prose is written by a language model from the engine's numbers, then machine-checked and read by a person. We are telling you that because it matters: it is not a hand-written reading by a named astrologer, and we do not claim it is one.
Two of our reports that read the same subject read the same chart. They differ in which factors they look at and how deep they go, not in the underlying maths — which is why the factor list on each report page is worth reading before you choose.
Nothing in a report is a guarantee. No report of ours is medical, legal or financial advice, and no reading can tell you what you will decide to do.
Where we are new, and say so
VedikPatrika is a young service. Several of our reports have not been bought enough times to have reviews on their page yet, and where that is the case the page says so instead of showing you something borrowed.
The reviews you do see are real. Each one comes from a private link sent to a customer after their report was delivered, and is published only with permission. We do not write our own reviews, we do not buy them, and we do not name astrologers who have not worked on your report.
