Doshas in Vedic Astrology, Explained Honestly
दोष
What is a dosha in Vedic astrology?
A dosha is a specific affliction identified in a birth chart — a placement or combination that classical texts treat as a difficulty. The four most searched are Mangal dosha, Kaal Sarp, Sade Sati and Pitra dosha. Every one of them carries classical qualifications, cancellations or caveats, and a reading that reports the dosha without them is incomplete.
Doshas are the most commercially exploited corner of Indian astrology. The standard treatment is to state the dosha, omit the cancellations, and sell the remedy — which is exactly what makes people afraid of their own charts. These pages do the opposite: the cancellation rules are given the same prominence as the condition.
Where a 'dosha' is a modern addition rather than a classical one, these pages say so. Kaal Sarp, for example, does not appear in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra or any of the foundational texts. That is worth knowing before anyone charges you to remove it.
VedikPatrika sells no remedial products, stones, yantras or pujas of any kind. The remedies described here are the classical ones, and they cost nothing.
